AC Milan head coach Sergio Conceição has shed light on one of the key factors he believes contributed to his side’s inability to find the back of the net during their 1-0 loss to Juventus: the absence of star forward Christian Pulisic. Speaking after the Serie A clash, Conceição lamented the unavailability of the U.S. international, suggesting it disrupted their attacking fluidity and creativity in the final third.
“There was no Christian Pulisic, and that, for me, was a big factor,” said Conceição. “He’s a player who gives us something special in attack. Without him, we lacked that edge and dynamism to break down Juventus’ defense.”
A Key Absence in a Pivotal Match
Pulisic has been a standout performer for AC Milan this season, contributing crucial goals and assists in the Rossoneri’s quest for Serie A supremacy. The former Chelsea winger’s ability to drive at defenders, create chances, and score in tight situations has made him a vital part of Conceição’s plans. His absence was particularly felt against a disciplined Juventus side that managed to stifle Milan’s attack effectively.
Milan’s forward line struggled to create clear-cut opportunities, with Rafael Leão and Olivier Giroud unable to breach Juventus’ resolute defense. The lack of creativity and penetration often provided by Pulisic left Milan reliant on speculative efforts and crosses that were easily dealt with by the Bianconeri.
Juventus Capitalizes
Juventus, on the other hand, capitalized on their defensive organization and scored the game’s only goal through Federico Chiesa. While Milan dominated possession, their inability to turn control into goals highlighted the void left by Pulisic’s absence.
Conceição’s Focus on Recovery
With the title race heating up, Conceição emphasized the importance of regrouping and focusing on the upcoming matches. “We cannot dwell too much on this loss. We have to learn from it and ensure we are stronger, regardless of who is available,” he stated.
Pulisic’s return to fitness will undoubtedly be a priority for Milan as they aim to stay in contention for the Scudetto. Fans and analysts alike will watch closely to see how Milan adapts and whether their American talisman can once again provide the spark they need.
