NFL Draft : Commanders locked in on Jayden Daniels? What could that mean for Giants?
As per the “Trap or Dive” podcast, which airs on SB Nation’s Hogs Haven, NFL insider Adam Schefter revealed that the Washington Commanders seem certain to draft LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Schefter stated, “I think you can go get those Jayden Daniels jerseys,” when he appeared on the program.
According to Schefter, this week’s visits by the Commanders will include Daniels, Drake Maye, and J.J. McCarthy.
They seem to be leaning toward Jayden Daniels. In the end, I think they’re leaning toward Jayden Daniels, but we’ll see how the week plays out. They have the right to change their decision; teams have done so before. That seems to be the strategy, Schefter added. “Anyone, including Jayden, has the power to change their mind.”
Daniel Jeremiah, an NFL Network draft source, seems to agree that Daniels is the front-runner to be chosen by the Commanders.
Jeremiah stated, “From what I’ve heard, they’re sticking and picking.” I don’t want that pick for sale. They have the quarterback positioned there for a somewhat soft landing this off-season. In my opinion, you need a guy who is willing to play at that point because you won’t wait for him. Marcus Mariotta won’t be able to fend off whoever is selected as the number two choice, in my opinion.
McCarthy was frequently associated with the Giants throughout the draft process. It’s clear that Brian Daboll, the head coach, and general manager Joe Schoen are drawn to Maye, the player I selected for the Giants in my most recent mock draft.
