DONE DEAL: Following his new deal with the Eagles, Justin Jefferson is not present for the Vikings……
After his action (or lack thereof) on Monday, Justin Jefferson sent a message to the front office of the Minnesota Vikings. Not long after rumors circulated that the Philadelphia Eagles were taking care of their number-two wide receiver, the Vikings held their first offseason practice.
DeVonta Smith’s three-year contract extension was reached by the Eagles. For the next three years, Smith will receive $25 million from the Eagles every year. That’s not bad money for a player who is asked to be Jalen Hurts’ second option behind A.J. Brown.
This offseason, Jefferson wants to get compensated. Jefferson’s fifth-year option was accepted by the Vikings, meaning that the talented wide receiver’s salary for the 2018 campaign would be just less than $20 million. For that type of money, Jefferson might decline the field assignment.
According to KSTP Sports, Jefferson did not attend the Vikings’ first optional spring practice, according to head coach Kevin O’Connell. O’Connell claimed to have communicated with Jefferson.
“I’ve had a great conversation with Justin throughout this offseason, even in the early going,” O’Connell remarked. “Hopefully, we can convince him to join the team.” He’s undoubtedly a unique player, but this time of year it’s more than that because of his sheer enthusiasm and demeanor when he enters the building and gets to work.

Not just Jefferson missed the voluntary workout on Monday among the wide receivers in the NFL. The first practice for his squad was also skipped by Dallas Cowboys standout CeeDee Lamb. Smith’s new contract with the Eagles required Lamb and Jefferson to show interest. When Smith is asked to do less in Philadelphia for more money, there is no way that they want to play for less than $20 million year.
